ProGibb®40SG, from Valent BioSciences, is a unique formulation of the naturally occurring plant growth regulator gibberellic acid . Used in combination with good post-harvest practices, this product has been shown to increase banana green life by more than one week, ensuring fruit meeting the consumer in optimal condition. Applied to sugarcane, this product can increase yield, improve packout and increase the amount of sugar harvested.
To improve post-harvest green life, ProGibb® is applied prior to packing and shipping in combination with alum and fungicides. The goal is to prevent the bananas from de-greening (ripening and turning yellow), as any sign of yellowing will result in bananas being rejected. After washing the crop, ProGibb® is applied directly to the bananas’ “hands’ in the form of a drench or spray, or simply brushed onto the cut ends.
This post-harvest application, compatible with other standard post-harvest treatment programs, adds about one week of green life to the crop. Flumyzin® is a herbicide with powerful residual effects if applied to the soil and a fast and “burning” effect if applied to foliage. The active ingredient in Flumyzin® is flumioxizin, which blocks protoporphyrinogen oxidase (PPO) in chloroplast. With effect from solar power the herbicide causes active oxygen to oxidise lipids in the cell membrane, thus destroying it. The final result is the destruction of chloroplast in the plant, which prevents photosynthesis and brings about its death.
Flumyzin® is an effective product on species missed by glyphosate and have a very good non-selective effect in several plantation crops. Rain matters little to the effect of Flumyzin®, even shortly after application to foliage. Soil application creates a zone that prevents germination of weeds and a higher dosage results in a long-term effect. Always read and follow label directions.

PinCor® is a highly effective plant growth regulator containing aminoethoxyvinylglycine (AVG). PinCor inhibits the biosynthesis of ethylene in plant tissues. On pineapple, ethylene is responsible for inducing flowering, a key stage in fruit development.
During certain times of the year, climatic conditions (such as low light levels or cool temperatures) can trigger ethylene production by the pineapple plant, resulting in flower induction and fruiting out of synch with the normal production schedule. This condition, known as Naturally Differentiated Flowering (NDF) leads to a disrupted supply of fruit, increased harvest costs, smaller fruit and lower returns per acre. A well-managed PinCor program keeps NDF under control and allows pineapple growers to harvest the crop on schedule.
